Chalk Barn is nestled at the heart of a 5,000 acre organically farmed estate. Owned by the Wookey family for four generations the estate is now led by Joseph and his wife, Isabella.
With their love of the countryside and sustainability, along with their passion for design, Chalk Barn was created to provide an inspirational events venue in the most magical location.

Sustainability
A key element of the Rushall Organics ethos is sustainability and Chalk Barn is no exception. We generate our own electricity through roof-mounted solar panels feeding a battery array, while the under-floor and water heating is provided by an on-site biomass boiler.
With huge front aspect windows and vaulted ceiling, it has been designed to sit in harmony with the natural environment and to showcase the stunning simplicity of the surrounding countryside.
With a licensed bar stocked with organic wines and local ales and a fully equipped kitchen, Chalk Barn is the ideal venue to fulfil all your event requirements.
Rushall Organic Farm
Chalk is part of the Rushall Organics Estate, an organic farm that has been run by the Wookey family for four generations. With initial conversion to organic starting in 1970, the farm was one of the very first to become organic in the country.
This helped pave the way to a significant shift in the way we farmed as a nation, stopping the use of chemicals on our fields.
The core principles of the farm – sustainability, legacy and integrity – have been consistently carried through the development of Chalk Barn and form the core of all the diverse activities at Rushall.
The Wookey Family
The Wookey family has proudly owned the Rushall Organic Estate since 1928. Chalk Barn was built on the same site as an older, thatched barn that was used to store machinery, which dates back to the time of Rachel and Joe’s great-grandfather.
Today, Chalk Barn still belongs to the Wookey family and was recently updated in 2019. Now, it has been transformed into a contemporary wedding venue that aligns with Rushall Organic Estates sustainable values and respect for nature.

We believe that getting involved with you in the lead up to your wedding is crucial, and always strive to make it bespoke to you.
Our commitment to you doesn’t end with the ceremony. Lincoln, Dannie, and Tracy are with you from start to finish. Lincoln will even drive you to our newlywed haven ‘The Hide’ at the end of your special day.
